Join Us For A Celebration Of Love

Our Story
So… Why Madeira?
We’ve always believed that there are little invisible strings connecting us to the people and places meant to shape our lives, even before we know it.
For us, that string has always led back to Madeira.
It was the first place we ever traveled to together, and it holds a special meaning . Yes, it’s where Catherine’s family is from. But funny enough, Madeira found its way into our story long before that trip. Back in 2019, Catherine was selling prints to raise money for a charity. David thought a cute way to flirt with her would be to buy one, to give him an excuse to talk to her. The print he chose? The mountains of Madeira. That print still hangs in our home today.
We didn’t think much of it at the time, but looking back, it feels like the island was quietly waiting for us.
So when it came time to plan our wedding, Madeira just felt right. And yes, we are fully aware this is a destination wedding. It is not close. It is not convenient. Getting there requires effort, planning, and probably at least one moment of googling, “where the heck is this place?”
We know this is a big ask, and we completely understand if you are not able to be there in person. Truly. Whether you are with us on the island or cheering us on from afar, you are deeply part of our story. For those who can make the journey, it means the world to us to celebrate together in a place that has shaped so much of who we are.
We can’t wait to bring a little of Madeira’s magic to all of you.

Travel & Stay
We’re a little biased, but this is one of our favourite places on earth…
Nearest Airports:
Nearest Airport:
Madeira International Airport (FNC) (25 mins from venue)
We recommend flying with TAP Air Portugal. There are currently no direct flights from Toronto to Madeira, but TAP offers smooth connections through Lisbon (LIS) or Ponta Delgada (PDL) in the Azores.
If You’re Staying Longer
1. Hike the Peaks
Catch the sunrise above the clouds on the trail from Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo, one of Madeira’s most iconic hikes.
2. Swim in Natural Lava Pools
Cool off in the stunning Porto Moniz pools, formed by volcanic rock and filled with crystal-clear seawater.
3. Explore Funchal & Monte
Wander Funchal’s old town, ride the Monte cable car, and take the famous wicker toboggan ride back down the hill — a true Madeira classic.
Transportation:
Getting Around:
Ride shares are available throughout the area, but if you’re staying longer, we recommend renting a rental car to access some of the island’s more remote parts!
Shuttle service provided for all our guests for the welcome party, ceremony, and reception. The meeting point is at Casa Velha Do Palheiro.
